Uninstalling/Reinstalling Discover

Steps:

  1. Back up any custom Setups first.
  2. UNINSTALL OLD DISCOVER SOFTWARE
  3. DELETE HIDDEN DISCOVER FOLDER (In the Application Data folder)
  4. INSTALL NEW DISCOVER SOFTWARE
  5. COPY BACK ANY CUSTOM SETUPS
You should first back up any custom setups you may have created before uninstalling.

1. Backup any custom Setups first.

The setups are stored in the Application Data folder, which is normally hidden by Windows.

a.  Double click on "My Computer". When the window opens, type the following, exactly, into the Address window and hit "Enter":     %appdata%
You should be taken to the following location:
C:Documents and Settings\"your logged in user name"\Application Data
You will see the "Discover" folder.

b.  Open the "Discover" folder and choose the folder where your custom setups may be, (Switch, Board, or OnScreen) and make a back up copy of them. Right click on a setup and choose copy. This should include any of the included Setups that you may have edited or changed.

c.  To make it easy to find the backed up Setups, create a new folder on your DESKTOP. Open the new folder and right click and choose paste. Do this for each Setup you wish to make a back up copy of.

(**Please note that it will not be necessary to backup any of the default setups that normally are installed with the software, unless you have made changes to them.)

2. UNINSTALL OLD DISCOVER SOFTWARE

You now need to uninstall the older Discover software.
a. Go to the Control Panels and choose "Add or Remove Programs". (Start Menu/Control Panel/    Add or Remove Programs)

b. Find Discover in the list of programs and click on it. Once selected, click on the "Change/    Remove" button on the right. The installer will launch as if it was installing the software.

c. Choose the same language used when originally installed. Select "Remove" when you see     the "Modify/ Repair/ or Remove" page.

d. When prompted, Restart the computer.

3. DELETE HIDDEN DISCOVER FOLDER

(In the Application Data folder)
We now need to manually delete the Discover folder in the Application Data location that we just backed up setups from.
a. Double click on "My Computer". When the window opens, type the following exactly into the Address window and hit "Enter":
        %appdata%
You should be taken to the following location:
C:Documents and Settings"your logged in user name" Application Data

b. Right click on the "Discover" folder that you should now see, and choose "Delete".

4. INSTALL NEW DISCOVERPRO 2.0

a. Now that you have completely removed the older software, you can now install the DiscoverPro 2.0 software.

b. Restart your computer.

c. Once the computer restarts and Discover launches, all new setups should be copied back into the "Discover" folder in the Application Data location.

5. COPY BACK ANY CUSTOM SETUPS

If you backed up any custom setups, you can now copy them back into the Discover folder found in Application Data.

a. Double click on "My Computer". When the window opens, type the following exactly into the Address window and hit "Enter":
        %appdata%
You should be taken to the following location:
C:Documents and Settings"your logged in user name" Application Data

b. Open the Discover folder and then the Setup folder for the type of setup you had backed up. (Board, Switch, OnScreen). Copy the setups back into this location.

You should now have access to your setups.
