About Madentec
Madentec Limited is a leading supplier of assistive technology for people with physical disabilities. Products include solutions for accessing and controlling a computer or communication device 100% hands-free by using Tracker products as well as an alternate keyboard or scanning access through the Discover product line. These products are ideally suited to people with severe physical disabilities, including: quadriplegia, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, ALS and muscular dystrophy.
History of Madentec
Back in 1987, I was a young Engineering student involved in a project to help my friend, Si Peterson, who had broken his neck in a gymnastics accident. Using technology, we gave my friend access to his computer. The success of that project spawned the formation of Madentec - a company focused on creating products that enable extraordinary people to do ordinary things.
For me, the success of Madentec has always been measured by what our products allow people to do, not by the numerous awards we've won. Our products are all about making the computer accessible - especially for people with mobility impairments. Once we've done that, an amazing world of opportunities becomes available.
The results of our efforts are best summed up by the mother of a young girl with Cerebral Palsy, who looked at me with tears of joy in her eyes as she watched her daughter use our products for the first time and exclaimed, "it works!!". That's all an Engineer needs to hear, to make it all worthwhile.
